Most of all though, my biggest qualification is the results that I have given my students over the past 10 years. I have developed a detailed guitar lesson syllabus through many years of testing to see what works, what doesn’t work, and how to teach all kinds of different people of all ages and experience.
What age groups do you teach?
Approximately, from the age of 11 to mid 60’s. Anyone can learn to play guitar! It doesn’t matter if you are young, old, have big hands, have small hands, etc. None of this really matters, as long as you find a dedicated guitar teacher that can guide you and train you.
What styles of music do you teach?
I teach rock, pop, indie, country, folk, blues, hard rock and metal styles. I teach both acoustic and electric guitar. I also cater for 7 string guitar lessons.
What styles of music don’t you teach?
Jazz, classical guitar and advanced finger picking styles.
Why don’t you teach these styles?
I am not familiar enough or proficient enough in these styles to teach you. I would be very wary of any guitar teacher who says that they can teach all styles. There is not enough time in the world for him or her to learn these styles, and then learn how to teach these styles. Being able to play something and being able to teach something are two completely different skill sets.
What will you teach me? Can I just bring you a song and tell you what to show me?
I have a detailed teaching syllabus that has been developed over a 10 year period with real life testing. It’s been developed through 1000’s of hours of teaching and with 100’s of students, just like you. I will cater this towards you, the individual. If a guitar teacher let’s a student direct their lessons, I don’t think that relationship will be very fruitful for either party.
Do I need to read music to play guitar and do you teach this?
No to both of these. The majority of guitar players throughout the world use something called guitar tablature. That is what I will show you, and it is very easy to read!
Do you travel to people’s houses?
No.
Do you teach how to sing and play guitar?
No.
Do you teach Grades?
No. I’ve spent a decade developing my own syllabus based on my real life experience with solving people’s problems and helping them meet their goals. I also implement the ideas and teachings of the two world class guitar teachers I have had myself, Tom Hess and Pebber Brown.
Do you teach any other instruments?
No.
Can I drop by your studio to talk to you?
I would appreciate if you did not do this. I am not a walk-ins business and will be focused on teaching my students when I am at the teaching studio. A Free Assessment Session can only be booked by appointment, but if you’re looking to learn guitar, I am eager to teach you!
