Michael is a great teacher and would highly recommend him to anyone considering learning the guitar. Relaxing and welcoming teaching style paired with his expertise makes it an enjoyable learning environment.
I have really enjoyed having guitar lessons with Michael for the past three years. I taught myself how to play the guitar a bit when I was younger but I didn’t play much. I couldn’t really progress much on my own. When I started with Michael he explained a lot about playing the guitar especially about strumming patterns. I had never heard about strumming patterns!Michael is an excellent teacher and I have made a lot of progress. One of the best things about the lessons is that Michael gives us an opportunity to play with other musicians and himself at the end of the lesson.
My daughter has been attending Michael’s guitar school for the last 8 months or so and her progress has been amazing. She has completed her Grade one exam and is now going straight on to Grade 3. Her confidence in the electric guitar has soared. We had tried other teachers before Michael with no success or progress. He is a brilliant teacher with patience and understanding. Five stars is not enough but that’s the highest it allows me to give. She loves attending her lessons and impresses me every week with what she has learned. Worth every penny. Fabulous.
I have enjoyed lessons with Michael immensely. As a pensioner student, who has noodled aimlessly since my early teens, I wish I had started lessons at a much younger age but nevertheless have found it easy but still challenging to fit into Michaels classes and his style of teaching. Discovering the basics of what made the great guitarists great has been an eye-opener. There is really nothing that can substitute for this type of face-to-face tuition. The short group sessions at the end of each lesson, which seemed scary to me at first, were instead a pleasant opportunity to see that you were improving and had more ability than you first thought. It’s never too late to start learning.
Always a welcoming and friendly atmosphere at lessons, and the structure of them offers a lot more than sitting in a traditional 1 to 1 lesson.Michael really knows his stuff, and has his resources nailed so that any level of guitar player can understand how and why certain exercises help you to progress as a player. It makes the motivation to practice so much greater and makes it enjoyable. Couldn’t recommend enough.
Before coming to Michael I was stuck in a guitar rut having not had a lesson in over 10 years and having no clue where to go with my attempts at self teaching. I came to Michael to see if he could help and the change has been incredible! I’ve been doing lessons with him for over a year now – he understands exactly what you want to achieve and knows how to get you there. With Michaels guidance my playing has coming along further in one year than it had in over 10 years of self teaching! There’s a great mix between improv, theory, and song lessons. If you’re a guitarist that feels a bit stuck, give Michael a try! He’ also very patient so I’m sure he’d be great for beginners.
I’d been playing for many years as a self-taught guitarist but Michael was able to help me improve in a short time with his fun and interesting lessons, helping me overcome some bad habits and increasing my theory knowledge. He’s a patient teacher who knows his craft well and makes the lessons very enjoyable.
I decided to learn to play acoustic guitar on my retirement as it was something I had always wanted to do. A postal flyer and a phone call was all it took. It turned out to be one of the best decisions that I have ever made. Michael is very dedicated and an excellent tutor. In the two plus years that I have been attending classes my guitar skills have increased greatly thanks to Michael’s attention to detail and encouragement. If you have the drive and desire to learn Michael will definitely help you reach your goal.
